Bloznalis Signs With Umeå IK

BOSTON - Former Boston University women's soccer standout Rachel Bloznalis is set to begin her professional career as she has signed with Umeå IK of Sweeden, as announced by the club Monday.
Based in Umeå, Sweeden, the club owns a storied history dating back to 1917. The club won the 2003 and 2004 UEFA Women's Champions League and has won seven Damallsvenskan championships. Umeå IK competed in the Damallsvenskan division, the premier division, from 1998-2016 before being relegated to the Elitettan division last season.
"It's definitely a dream come true," said Bloznalis. "It's surreal. I'm really excited to continue playing soccer because it's what I love and I love playing it. I'm excited to keep playing for as long as I can and to keep getting better, experience new things, meet new teammates and coaches, see how different the experience is in Europe and get to know Sweeden."
The Elitettan division consists of 14 teams, with games taking place once a week. The 26-game season is set to begin in April and will continue until October.
