BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball will open the Patriot League Tournament as it takes on seventh-seeded Lafayette on Saturday, March 3 in a first round tilt. Opening tip from the Kirby Sports Center is set for 2 p.m.
PATRIOT LEAGUE PICTURE
- BU will play in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament for the fourth time in five seasons.
- The Terriers are 1-2 all-time in first round games in the Patriot League Tournament.
- It's lone win came in 2014, its debut year competing in the Patriot League Tournament, with a 40-35 victory over Loyola Maryland.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
- The Leopards closed the regular season with a 60-55 loss at Colgate to match BU with a 10-18 overall record and finished a game above at 6-12 in conference play.
- Freshman Natalie Kucowski is a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year as she averages a league-best 10.4 rebounds per game and leads the Leopards with 10.4 rebounds per game.
- Kucowski is one of two players in the league to average a double-double and is tied for second with 1.5 blocks per game.
- Anna Ptasinski ranks second on the team with 8.1 points per game and is the Leopard's top threat from deep, averaging 2.1 triples per game and leads the Patriot League with a .390 shooting percent from beyond-the-arc.
- Drew Freeland exploded for a team-best 15 points in the previous matchup against the Terriers and is effective from 3-point range, connecting on .434 percent from deep.
- Lafayette leads the league in team 3-point field goal percentage with a .341 clip.
THE SERIES
- Lafayette swept the season series, winning both games by one possession.
- The Leopards edged the Terriers, 44-41, in the previous matchup Feb. 21 in Easton.
- Both teams struggled to find the net the last time they squared off as neither team shot above 25 percent from the floor.
- BU leads the all-time series 12-7, but Lafayette holds the upper hand at 6-4 since BU joined the Patriot League.
- A win would send BU to the quarterfinals for a matchup against top-seeded American on Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
