D'Anna Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
September 24, 2018 | Men's Soccer
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After recording a pair of goals and an assist, Boston University men's soccer sophomore Austin D'Anna has earned his first-career Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
The award marks the third of the season for the Terriers after junior Matt McDonnell was recognized on both Sept. 3 and 10.
D'Anna started off the week by scoring his first goal of the year at Harvard on Wednesday by putting away a rebound set up by junior Satchel Cortet's run up the field and ensuing shot attempt. He repaid the favor by collecting the ball at midfield against American late in the first half and sending a long pass down the right side to set up senior T.J. Butzke's cross and Cortet's one-time finish.
Owning a 1-0 halftime lead in the 60th minute, the Hernando, Florida, native fired a shot attempt at the far post while rushing into the box off freshman Kari Petursson's header. With the game-winning goal and assist, D'Anna earned his second career multi-point performance after scoring twice at Army West Point in 2017.
The Terriers will next continue their three-game homestand by hosting Brown on Tuesday (Sept. 25) with a 7 p.m. start time.
