BOSTON - Returning to Case Gym for the first time in a month, the Boston University women's basketball team tips off Patriot League play on Thursday, Jan. 3 against Army West Point. Opening tip from The Roof is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU saw its road woes continues as it dropped its six straight road game at Harvard on Dec. 21 to close out its non-conference slate.
  • Payton Hauck led the team in scoring with her second-straight 16-point performance.
  • Nia Irving notched her 10th career and second double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and 11 points in her return to the floor following a three-game absence.
  • Irving leads the team in scoring (13.3), which is tied for fifth in the league, and also leads the Terriers in rebounding (7.9).
  • Lauren Spearman has taken every advantage of being in the starting lineup after coming off the bench the previous three season as she leads the Patriot League lead in 3-pointers per game (2.9) and minutes (37.9).
  • Katie Nelson leads team with 3.8 assists per game, which ranks second in the league.
  • BU has averaged 67.8 points per game at Case Gym and has won by an average margin of 13.8 points.
  • This will be the second straight year BU will open up Patriot League play against Army, as it secured a 60-59 decision to notch its first win in a Patriot League opener since joining the league in 2013.
  • Previously, BU had matched up with Holy Cross for its first four Patriot League openers.

SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT

  • Army won four of its last six non-conference games to bump its record to 5-6.
  • Madison Hovren is averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.
  • Hovren leads the league in scoring and ranks second in rebounding.
  • Jess Lewis follows in scoring (9.1) and leads the Patriot League in assists per game (4.6).
  • Army boasts the top scoring defense in the league (56.3) and ranks second in field goal percentage defense (37.1).

THE SERIES

  • The Black Knights eked out a 48-47 win in the last matchup on Feb. 24, 2018 to snap a two-game skid to BU.
  • Both of last season's matchups were decided by one point.
