Sensational Schroeder Stops 38 Shots in 1-0 Win at UConn
October 18, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
STORRS, Conn. - Junior Corinne Schroeder stopped all 38 shots she faced to lead the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 1-0 win at UConn on Friday night at Freitas Ice Forum.
Schroeder's sensational performance made sure that senior Deziray De Sousa's second-period strike held up as the game-winning goal. The junior goaltender made 14 saves in the first and third frames and stopped 10 shots in the second stanza. Eleven of her saves came during the Huskies' three power plays. She also made several key stops when UConn (3-2-0, 1-2-0 HEAW) pulled its goalie for the final 1:05 of the contest.
Senior Abby Cook and sophomore Courtney Correia both assisted on De Sousa's first goal of the season, which helped BU improve to 2-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.

THE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER
- De Sousa scored the game's lone goial with 54.1 seconds remaining in the second stanza. Cook fired a shot on target from the right point, which Morgan Fisher (25 saves) turned aside. De Sousa collected the rebound, however, and quickly sent it into the net.

- This was Schroeder's third career shutout. She recorded two shutouts last year, blanking both Vermont and Maine.
- BU did not receive a power play.
- Cook has assisted on both game-winning goals this season.
- The senior defender has notched a point in three of the Terriers' four games this year.
- The Terriers' only other 1-0 win in program history came on Nov. 21, 2010, at Boston College.
- BU will trek to Maine for a Sunday showdown with the Black Bears.
- Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.
