HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU almost got on the board in the opening minute as junior Chad Krys raced ahead of the PC defense before deking PC netminder Hayden Hawkey and having his backhand attempt go squarely off the right post.
- The Terriers turned in a strong first period and were rewarded 7:25 into the game when Bowers knocked in a rebound at the left post off a 4-on-1 rush with the initial shot coming from freshman Joel Farabee.
- BU had the only power play of the game late in the middle period but was unable to extend its lead.
- Oettinger stopped 14 shots in each of the first two periods to protect the BU lead going into the third.
- The Friars got the equalizer when Greg Printz found Dugan with a saucer pass that the freshman corralled before pushing the puck in to spoil Oettinger's shutout bid.
- BU and Providence split their three-game season series as each team won on the road before tonight's draw.
- This was the first time BU did not commit a penalty in a game since Jan. 15, 2008, against Dartmouth at Agganis Arena.
- Junior Dante Fabbro had a game-high six blocked shots, giving him 72 on the year.
- Hayden Hawkey turned in a 19-save effort for the Friars.
- BU will close out the home portion of its regular season on Saturday (March 2) when it hosts Merrimack on Senior Night and Alumni Night.
- The Terriers will honor their senior class prior to the game and also recognize all alumni in attendance during the second intermission.
- Game time is set for 7 p.m.
