BOCA RATON, Fla. – Despite capturing the doubles point, the Boston University men's tennis team ended the trip to Florida with a 4-3 loss to UNC Asheville on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (13-2) rallied for the one-point win by defeating the Terriers (5-11) in four singles matches with three straight-set victories.

- UNC Asheville split up the No. 1 doubles team in the country by having Henry Patten compete at No. 1 and Oli Nolan compete at line 2 against the Terriers.
- The Bulldogs' strategy didn't pay off, as freshman Max Hartenstein and junior J.P. Avila claimed a 6-3 win in the No. 2 slot with freshman Max Stehling and sophomore Ethan Kolsky duplicating their efforts at line 3 for the 1-0 advantage.
- UNCA though came out on the attack with three straight-set singles wins with Nolan posting a 6-1, 6-4 win at line 2.
- Patten edged sophomore Owen Lu, 6-4, 6-3, in the top singles match, and the Bulldogs added another point at line 4 with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
- Sophomore Pedro Gutierrez jumped out to an early lead and held off a rally fo the 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
- Classmate Pete Siozios won just one game in the first set but rallied to capture 12 of the next 19 games in a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 3 slot.
- The Bulldogs clinched the team victory by topping junior Marc Sable, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, at line 6, as the Terriers suffered their second one-point defeat in the past week.
- After participating in five matches over the last seven days, the Terriers will recharge and next open Patriot League play against Holy Cross on Saturday, March 30 in Paxton, Massachusetts.
- Doubles action is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
- BU blanked the Crusaders last season, 4-0.
