
Terriers Compete in Day 1 of PL Championships

Day 1 Results
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Boston University men's track & field team completed Day 1 of the Patriot League Championships at Holy Cross on Friday. The day was highlighted by a gold medal performance in the long jump by Jason Biesma who finished first with a jump of 7.19 meters (23'7.25") a new personal best.
In addition to Biesma, Brett Davidson won silver in the 10,000m run with a time of 30:59.02 in the first event of the meet.
FRIDAY'S TOP FINISHES
• Graduate student Jason Biesma won gold in the long jump with a 7.19 meters (23'7.25") jump to earn BU its first gold medal of the meet and 10 big team points in the standings. The jump was also a new personal best for Biesma.
• Biesma is also competing in the decathlon and in second place with 3,535 points through five events.
• Brett Davidson finished second in the 10,000m run with a time of 30:59.02 to win silver and earn the Terriers eight points in the team standings.
• Chiebuka Onwuzurike finished second in the 100m dash prelims with a time of 10.53 and qualified for Sunday's finals. Onwuzurike also took third in the 200m dash prelims with a time of 21.72 and qualified for Sunday's finals.
• Nikolas Smith also advanced to the finals in the 200m dash after finishing seventh in the prelims with a time of 21.57.
• The 4x800m relay team of Marcel Aubry, Michael Michael, Johnny Kemps and Haig Rickerby finished fourth with a time of 7:29.97 and earned BU five team points.
• Declan Ritzenthaler finished sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.85m (15'11") and earned the Terriers three points.
• Douglas Young finished eighth in the pole vault (4.40m, 14'5.25") to earn one team point.
CURRENT STANDINGS
• With six events scored, the BU men are in fourth place with 23 points behind leader Navy with 70.5 points, Army (68) and Bucknell (31).
STILL TO COME
• Saturday will feature a full day of events beginning with the final three events of the heptathlon at 10:15 a.m. and concluding with the women's 4x400m final at 5:25 p.m.
