VANCOUVER, B.C. – The first round of the 2019 NHL Draft took place at Rogers Arena on Friday evening and Boston University commit Trevor Zegras was selected ninth overall by the Anaheim Ducks.
Â
This marked the fifth straight year that a BU player or commit was selected in the opening round with an impressive total of 10 first-rounders during the span.
Â
Zegras, a 6-0, 173-pound center, tallied 87 points (26g, 61a) this past season for the U.S. National Under-18 Team. He totaled 100 assists in 116 career contests with the National Team Development Program, which is the fourth-most in program history. Zegras signed a National Letter of Intent to play at BU back in November.
Â
At this year's U-18 World Championship, Zegras was second among all skaters in the tournament in assists with nine and earned a bronze medal with the U.S. squad. He helped Team USA capture gold at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2017 with six points (2g, 4a) in six games.
