Terriers Compete at John Thomas Terrier Classic

WOMEN'S RECAP
BOSTON - The Boston University men's track & field team hosted Day 2 of the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU's Track and Tennis Center on Saturday. The Terriers competed against a very large and talented field made up of more than 1,500 athletes representing 150 teams including hundreds of post-collegiate athletes.
The Terriers had several notable performers, including Declan Ritzenthaler who finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 4.70m (15'5") and Ebruba Etta who finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.14 in a field of 58.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
On Friday night, a special 5000 meter invitational was held with several athletes competing for the Olympic Trials qualifying time of 13:13.50. Paul Tanui of Kenya finished first with a time of 13:15.72, but was just short of the qualifying mark. Tyler Day of Northern Arizona finished second and broke Galen Rupp's American collegiate 5,000m indoor record with a time of 13:16.95.

- The Terriers had some excellent performances in the field led by Declan Ritzenthaler who finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 4.70m (15'5").
- Robert Saligman took third in the pole vault, finishing with a personal best vault of 4.70m (15'5").
- Fred Lu shattered his personal best in the shot put with a throw of 13.42m (44'.5") to finish 21st overall in a field of 40 throwers.
- Dave Vovor also had an excellent performance in the shot put with a throw of 12.23 meters (40'1.5") to set a new personal best.
- On the track, Ebruba Etta finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.14 in a field of 58 while Riley Sasaki finished 13th with a time of 7:20.
- Brett Davidson finished the 5000m run with a tine of 14:31.25, good for 13th place in a field of 95 and fastest in the PL this season.
- Jack Reynolds had a strong performance in the 60m hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 8:82.
- Freshman Foster Malleck had an excellent performance in the 3000m run, finishing 22nd with a time of 8:14.27, fourth best in the Patriot League this year.
- Ebruba Etta competed in the 200m dash and finished with a time of 22.13 and in 34th place in a field of 192.
- Nikolas Smith also competed in the 200m dash and finished with a time of 22.19 and in 43rd place.
- Competing in the 60m hurdles invitational, Jamin Harris finished 16th with a time of 8.60.
- Tommy Quinn competed in the 800m run and finished with a time of 1:53.96, just missing his personal best (1:53.44).
