BOSTON – After having a bye week, the Boston University softball team will head west to California for 11 games, starting with five contests at the UCLA Invitational.
The two-time defending Patriot League champion Terriers (11-4) most recently went 2-3 at the Razorback Invitational with two losses to then-No. 21/23 Arkansas and will face two more ranked opponents this weekend. They will first battle Cal Poly on Friday at 1 p.m. ET and follow up with No. 11/16 Michigan at 3:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, BU will meet San Diego State at 2:30 p.m. ET and then the No. 1 and defending NCAA champion Bruins at 7:30 p.m. ET before concluding the event on Sunday with a rematch against Cal Poly at 1 p.m. ET.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Seven of the 17 Terriers on the squad hail from California with another a native of Arizona.
- BU is seeking its first win against a ranked opponent since upsetting then-No. 1 Oklahoma, 4-3, in 2018.
- BU is batting .267 and holding opponents to .238 with a 9-5 advantage in homers ... Opponents hold a slight 17-14 advantage in doubles with BU leading in stolen bases, 15-9.
- Freshman Caitlin Coker (.381 avg.) has an impressive .500 on-base percentage with four doubles, while sophomore Aliyah Huerta-Leipner owns a team-high 15 RBIs, 16 runs scored and four homers.

Sophomore Emily Gant (4-0, 2.15 ERA) owns 24 strikeouts in 29.1 innings while limiting teams to .191 batting average.
- Overall, the Terriers have claimed seven shutouts in 15 games with highlight wins against Virginia, UNC Greensboro, Georgetown and Marist.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Cal Poly, 10-8 (Friday, 1:00 p.m. ET | Sunday, 1:00 ET)
- The Mustangs already own 10 wins this season through 18 contests after going 11-40 in 2019 ... They most recently fell to Loyola Marymount (13-3) and Grand Canyon (6-4) but have notable wins against Illinois (12-2), Boise State (4-1), Fordham (6-1) and California (5-2).
- Hailey Martin (.385) is one of eight hitting over .300 with 12 RBIs ... Both Lily Amos (.356) and Shelby Jeffries (.328) own three homers apiece and have combined for 28 RBIs.
- Krystyna Allman (6-2, 2.52 ERA) owns 51 strikeouts in 58.1 innings, while Steffi Best (3-5, 6.12 ERA) has 25 strikeouts in 40.0 innings.
