Farrance Earns CCM/AHCA First Team All-America Honors
April 11, 2020 | Men's Ice Hockey
After putting together one of the most impressive seasons on the offensive end by a defenseman in college hockey history, junior David Farrance of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named a CCM/AHCA First Team All-American, as announced Saturday evening on ESPN's SportsCenter.
Farrance led all Division I blueliners in points (43), goals (14) and power-play goals (9) this season and became just the second BU defenseman to be a Hobey Baker top-10 finailst. He finished sixth overall in points nationally and his 1.26 points-per-game average was the highest of any Hockey East defenseman in 25 years. A Hockey East First Team All-Star, Farrance also earned a spot on the All-USCHO First Team and his 43 points were the most of any BU d-man in the Hockey East era.
Farrance is the first Terrier All-American since Charlie McAvoy collected first-team honors three years ago. This marks the 13th time since 2000 that a BU defenseman has been named an All-American.

The top team in the West was Minnesota State goaltender Dryden McKay, Denver defenseman Ian Mitchell, Minnesota Duluth junior Scott Perunovich, North Dakota forward Jordan Kawaguchi, Western Michigan forward Hugh McGing and Minnesota State forward Marc Michaelis.
Named an assistant captain for the 2020-21 season, Farrance will be the first BU player to be a returning All-American since Matt Grzelcyk. Since he earned first-team honors, Farrance will join the other Terrier greats on the All-American wall at Agganis Arena.Players Mentioned
