April 7, 2020 | Men's Lacrosse
Freshmen Vince D'Alto and Collin Loughead of the Boston University men's lacrosse team earned All-Freshman honors from College Crosse, the website announced on Tuesday.
Loughead, a close defender, was named to the second team while D'Alto, an attackman, earned honorable mention status. BU has landed a rookie on a College Crosse All-Freshman team all four years they have been created, with D'Alto and Loughead becoming the ninth and 10th Terriers to be selected.
Starting in all five games in which he played, Loughead finished the season with 16 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, ranking third on the squad in both those categories. He began his collegiate career with six ground balls and two caused turnovers in the season opener against Providence on Feb. 1. He recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers in his final appearance, a 17-11 win over Bellarmine on Feb. 22, and also notched three ground balls in a 13-5 win at UMass Lowell on Feb. 15 and at Bryant on Feb. 18.
D'Alto started all six games for BU and led the Terriers in points (21) and goals (14). He concluded the campaign tied for ninth among NCAA rookies in goals. His last goal of the year was memorable, as he notched the game-winning goal with 1:53 remaining in regulation to cap a 13-12 comeback win at Colgate on Feb. 29. D'Alto tallied a career-best five goals and six points at Bryant and twice notched three goals and two assists in a game, doing so in the Terriers' wins at Bellarmine and UMass Lowell.
