
Eligul Wins 100 Back on Day 2 of Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - Highlighted by senior Sezin Eligul's win in the 100-yard backstroke, the Boston University women's swimming & diving team remained in second place at the Terrier Invitational following the second day of competition at FitRec Competition Pool.
Eligul turned in a season-best 54.25 in the finals of the 100 back while sophomore Lara Mitchell took third in the event with a time of 55.56.
Freshman Ashley Scafetta turned in a 1:04.69 in the 100-yard breast final, which placed her in a tie for third, while senior Francesca Leung took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:52.13.
Those were the four best individual performances of the day for the Terriers, who widened their lead over third-place Northeastern to 64.5 points entering the final day of the meet.
Sophomore Madison Kim, Leung, Scafetta and senior Isabella Garbacz placed third in the 800-yard freestyle relay while Eligul, Scafetta, Kim and sophomore Blythe Brenner finished fifth in the 200-yard medley relay.
Other top-10 individual performances by BU swimmers came from Garbacz (6th, 200 free, 1:53.18), freshman Ella Erickson (6th, 400 IM, 4:27.27), Kim (7th, 200 free, 1:54.04 & 9th, 100 fly, 57.09), freshman Keilah Eckhart (8th, 100 fly, 56.83) and junior Grace Lange (10th, 200 free, 1:55.65).
Sophomore Sumi Cameron (240.50) and senior Katherine Russack (223.70) finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 1-meter dive.
Prelims for the final day of competition on Sunday (Nov. 21) will begin at 10 a.m.
