BU's slate returns to a traditional format after the COVID-19 pandemic affected the 2020 and 2021 seasons. After playing just four non-conference games and a modified Patriot League schedule in the spring, the Terriers will face off against eight out-of-conference foes and play a full Patriot League slate from February to April, culminating in the Patriot League Tournament that takes place in May.
The action starts with the home opener on Feb. 16 when Vermont visits Nickerson Field at 4 p.m. From there, BU's next three matchups are on the road against teams that reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament, beginning with reigning national champion Boston College (Feb. 19) and followed with trips to Fairfield (Feb. 23) and UMass (Feb. 26).
BU returns home to play UNH on Mar. 2 at 4 p.m. Following a road trip to Quinnipiac (Mar. 5), the Terriers start Patriot League play against Army (Mar. 12 at Noon) and Colgate (Mar. 19 at Noon). From there, BU heads to defending PL champion Loyola Maryland (Mar. 26), and wraps up March with a short trek to Holy Cross (Mar. 30).
Lafayette comes to Beantown on Apr. 2 for a 4 p.m. opening draw. Four of BU's final six games take place on the road, as the Terriers travel to Merrimack for non-conference action (Apr. 6) before heading south to Navy (Apr. 9). Following a home battle with Lehigh (Apr. 16 at Noon), BU visits Bucknell (Apr. 23) and Harvard (Apr. 26). The final home game of the year also caps the regular season, as BU faces off against American on Apr. 29 at 4 p.m.
The 2022 Patriot League Tournament begins with the quarterfinals on May 1 at the site of the higher-seeded opponent. The semifinals take place on May 5, and the championship is on May 7.
In the spring, BU went 4-6, including a 3-2 record against Patriot League foes. The Terriers reached the quarterfinals, continuing its trend of reaching the Patriot League Tournament in every year the postseason tournament has been held since joining the conference ahead of the 2014 season.
