
Terriers Falter at Holy Cross, 12-8

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Boston University women's lacrosse team was defeated by the Holy Cross Crusaders, 12-8, at Kuzniewski Field on Thursday (April 23).
The Terriers (8-9, 4-5 PL) went up 3-0 to begin the game and had a 5-2 lead at halftime, but Holy Cross (7-9, 5-4 PL) used a 9-3 second-half run to come back.
Juniors Izabella Amonte and Tessa Geddes each scored two goals, senior Alyssa Mozi notched a goal and an assist and junior Reilly Walsh, freshman Avery Cutair and senior Elle Stevenson all had a goal each.
Junior Natalie Aiosa made eight saves in cage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Terriers (8-9, 4-5 PL) went up 3-0 to begin the game and had a 5-2 lead at halftime, but Holy Cross (7-9, 5-4 PL) used a 9-3 second-half run to come back.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers got on the board first as Amonte struck on a free position 2;30 into the game.
- Just 21 seconds later, Cutair curled around from X and scored to make it 2-0 BU.
- Geddes was the next Terrier to score, sprinting into the 8-meter arc while the Terriers were down a player and scoring with 7:48 remaining in the first.
- The Crusaders would not answer until there was 3:05 left in the first, and BU went into the second leading 3-1.
- Stevenson scored a free-position goal with 10:32 left in the second to put BU up 4-1.
- Holy Cross struck back at 5:14 before Walsh answered just 57 seconds later, splitting two defenders with a dodge and going low on the shot.
- Coming out of the break, the Crusaders scored the first two goals.
- Geddes—once again while the Terriers were down a player—stormed through the defense and scored to make it 6-4 BU with 11:18 remaining in the third.
- After another Holy Cross goal, Amonte took a feed from Mozi as the shot clock ran down and slotted it home with 6:54 left in the third, putting the Terriers back up by two.
- The Crusaders tied the game with 2:19 left in the third, but BU would regain the lead 50 seconds later off a Mozi goal.
- Entering the final quarter up 8-7, the Terriers struggled to get offense going in the fourth and Holy Cross scored five straight goals to earn the win.
- With her eight saves, Aiosa now stands at 397 in her career.
- Geddes has 42 goals on the season—the most in a single season since Danielle Etrasco scored 59 in 2013.
- She also has the first 50-point season since Claire Gola notched 50 in 2023.
- The Terriers are now 13-6 against Holy Cross all-time.
- BU has earned the No. 6 seed in the Patriot League Championship.
- It will travel to No. 3 seed Loyola Maryland for a First Round contest on Sunday, April 26.
