BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Both Boston University men's tennis seniors David Bogatin and Owen Lu earned All-Patriot League Team honors, the conference office announced Friday afternoon.
The duo was recognized for the second consecutive conference season with Bogatin becoming the first Terrier since BU joined the conference in the summer of 2013 to be tabbed a two-time All-PL First Team member. Lu made history of his own by becoming the first Terrier to earn a third All-PL (Second Team) award.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Bogatin went 7-1 in singles action this spring with a 6-1 record at line 1. He defeated the top players from Bryant, Colgate, Lehigh, Merrimack and Holy Cross while also winning a set against Army in a match that went unfinished. On the doubles end, he collected four doubles wins, including a pair at No. 1 against Merrimack with freshman Johann Sajonz and a victory at line 2 against St. John's with freshman Tanisq Mallpani. In four years, he has totaled a combined 86 victories in singles and doubles action.
In the PL tournament, Lu earned a three-set win over fellow All-PL Second Team member Harry Wang from Lehigh in the No. 2 slot after earlier collecting singles wins against Colgate and Merrimack. A native of Guangzhou, China, he teamed with freshman Jose Maria Robalino for five doubles wins, including victories at line 1 against Colgate, Bryant and Holy Cross. In four years, he totaled 91 combined victories to help the Terriers.
