Bogatin Earns Top-10 Ranking in Year-End ITA Regional Poll
June 14, 2021 | Men's Tennis
BOSTON – After posting a 7-1 record and earning his second All-Conference First Team award, Boston University men's tennis senior David Bogatin placed No. 6 in the year-end ITA Northeast Region poll.
The Los Angeles, California, native was nearly perfect this year in singles, collecting No. 1 wins over Colgate, Lehigh, Bryant (2x), Merrimack (2x) and Holy Cross. He also won a set in a halted match against Army's Diego Huttepain, who finished No. 8 in the poll, and suffered his only loss to the region's top-ranked player, St. John's Djuro Opacic, in a 6-3, 6-3 decision.
Bogatin was the first Terrier to become a two-time All-PL First Team honoree since BU joined the conference in the summer of 2013. He totaled 87 career wins with 54 in singles and 33 in doubles while also excelling in the classroom.
For his achievements in athletics and academics, the two-time Academic All-PL member and Questrom School of Business graduate became the first men's tennis player since 1982 (Bob Green) to earn the E. Ray Speare Award as BU's top male scholar-athlete.
