BOSTON - Ready to kickoff the academic year, the Boston University women's soccer team's 27th season will start with a crosstown rivalry matchup at Northeastern on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Junior Jenna Oldham was named the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after a breakout spring season, where she led the Terriers in points (5) and assists (3).
  • Fellow junior Geovanna Pereira, who led BU in goals (2) last season, also returns at the forward position.
  • In a shortened spring campaign, the Terriers earned the Patriot League North Division title and finished the year with a 2-2-1 record after falling to Colgate in double overtime in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
  • The Terriers return five-of-six student-athletes who started all five games last spring.
  • BU will be a seasoned squad as 20-of-31 team members are upperclassmen.
  • Freshman Celia Braun and junior Gretchen Bennett will look to take over the reins in net, as the Terriers will look to a new rotation for the first time in three seasons.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
  • The Huskies went 5-5-1 overall and 3-1-0 in CAA action last spring.
  • Junior Alexis Legowski, who ranked second on the team in goals (3) and points (7), is Northeastern's leading returning scorer.
  • Graduate student Mikenna McManus started all 11 games and along with anchoring the defense, led the team with four assists during the spring.
  • Both Legowski and McManus earned 2020 All-CAA First Team honors and were named to this season's preseason all-conference team.
  • Junior Angeline Friel returns in between the pipes after starting in all 11 matches and leading the CAA in shutouts (5).
THE SERIES
  • BU is 13-7-1 all-time against its crosstown rival, and has taken two of the last three matchups.
  • Pereira delivered the golden goal in double overtime in the last contest, a 1-0 victory at Nickerson Field in 2019.
  • Each of the last three contests have been one-goal games.
