Boston College Tops Terriers, 3-1

NEWTON, Mass. – Clashing in a battle of Comm Ave. on a hot and humid night, the Boston University women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Boston College Thursday at Newton Campus Soccer Field.
The Eagles added a pair of scores midway through the first half before starting the second frame off with another tally in the 49th minute. Senior Margaret Berry, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, stayed hot as she netted her second goal of the season in the 80th minute to break the shutout.

- Facing a penalty kick in the 4th minute, freshman Celia Braun made a diving stop to her left to keep the clean sheet early on.
- Seniors Jenna Oldham and Taylor Kofton responded on the other end with back-to-back shots that missed just high of the crossbar.
- The Eagles broke the stalemate in the 24th minute, lining a shot just under the crossbar on a breakaway, and added another tally four minutes later.
- Sophomore Abigail McNulty applied early pressure down the left wing to start the second half, but BC's goalie collected the drive towards the near post.
- BC added its third score of the night in the 48th minute.
- Junior Gretchen Bennett made back-to-back saves within the box in the 74th minute to prevent further damage.
- Working off a free kick near the tight sideline with 10 minutes to play, Oldham found Berry, who used her head once again to get the Terriers on the board.
- Berry has already doubled her career points total through three games this season.
- Oldham recorded her league-leading third assist of the season.
- All 26 active players on the roster saw the field.
- BU matched BC with nine shots in the second half.
- The Terriers will welcome UMass to Nickerson Field for Terrier Tailgate on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m.
