September 13, 2021 | Field Hockey
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Freshman striker Payton Anderson of the Boston University field hockey team has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
In Sunday's contest at No. 3 Boston College, Anderson scored her team-leading third goal of the season and also assisted on junior Mikayla Crowley's first tally of the year.
After the Terriers went down 2-0 early, a corner shot by Anderson was tipped in by Crowley to make it a 2-1 affair at halftime. Anderson tied the game at the 42-minute mark when she followed up a rebound off her own shot.
Through six games, Anderson leads the Terriers in points (8) and goals (3) and her two assists ties her with senior Casey Thompson for the most on the squad.
