Women's Ice Hockey to Open 2021-22 Season Friday at UNH

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will begin its 17th season in Division I this weekend when the Terriers face New Hampshire in a home-and-home series that begins Friday at the Whittemore Center and concludes Saturday at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop on Friday is set for 6 p.m., while the two teams will skate again on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Fans can purchase tickets for Saturday's game by clicking here. Due to 2020 Boston University Commencement activities, parking on campus will be adjusted from typical game-day operations and may be limited. The gates at all lots will be open throughout the weekend, though guests may find lots adjacent to Athletics events full. For more information, click here.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU is 7-2-1 in its last nine season openers, outscoring opponents by a score of 27-19 in those contests.
  • The Terriers are 6-2-2 all-time in season openers on the road, outscoring their opponents, 30-21, in those contests.
  • BU returns 19 letter winners from last year's squad, including eight of the top nine point producers from a season ago.
  • Senior Courtney Correia led the Terriers last year with six assists and was second on the squad with eight points (2g, 6a).
  • BU did not lose a single defender from last year's squad to graduation.
  • Senior goaltender Kate Stuart is back after recording a 1.63 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage in five appearances last year, including four starts.
  • Senior Kaleigh Donnelly will captain the squad this season after serving as an assistant captain a year ago.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • New Hampshire finished last season with a 7-14-1 record.
  • UNH bested Holy Cross in the opening round of the Hockey East Tournament before falling to Northeastern in the league quarterfinals
  • The Wildcats return their top point producer from last season in sophomore Nicole Kelly, who tallied 14 points on a team-high five goals and a team-leading nine assists as a rookie.
  • Senior Lauren Martin (5g, 6a) and sophomore Chavonne Truter also return.
  • Senior Ava Boutilier will be back between the pipes for UNH.
  • She posted a 7-12-1 record with a .914 save percentage and a 2.62 goals-against average last season.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 33-17-5 all-time against UNH, including a 13-9-3 mark at Whittemore Center and a 19-7-2 mark at home.
  • The Terriers are 11-2-2 against the Wildcats over the teams' last 15 meetings.
  • BU opened the shortened 2020-21 season with a pair of tilts at Whittemore Center on Dec. 4-5, earning a 2-1 win in the opener before suffering a 4-3 setback the next day.
  • BU hasn't hosted UNH at Walter Brown Arena since a 2-0 win on Feb. 16, 2020.
  • Kate Stuart earned her first NCAA shutout in that victory.
