Women’s Basketball Ranked 25th In Women’s Mid-Major Poll

BOSTON – As the 2022-23 season begins next week on Nov. 7, the Boston University women's basketball program was ranked 25th in the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.
BU was the highest-ranked Patriot League team in the poll. American, Lehigh, and Holy Cross each received votes in the poll. South Dakota State of the Summit League was ranked first.
The ranking arrives after the Terriers were selected in October as the favorite in the Patriot League Preseason Poll for the first time in program history. BU seniors Sydney Johnson and Maren Durant were named the Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.
The Mid-Major Top 25®, now in its' 13th season of existence, is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.
The poll is voted on by 31 current Division I coaches. Holy Cross Head Coach Maureen Magarity is among the panel, serving as the lone Patriot League representative.
BU opens the year with a home tilt against local rival Northeastern on Monday (Nov. 7). Opening tip is slated for 4:30 p.m. as part of a Terrier basketball doubleheader with the men's program.
