O'Brien Named Hockey East Player of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. - Junior Jay O'Brien of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
O'Brien was terrific this past week in a pair of Terrier wins. Playing in the Beanpot for the first time, O'Brien scored a goal and added an assist in his team's 4-3 win over Harvard on Monday. O'Brien then tallied two goals and assisted on Wilmer Skoog's game-winner in a 4-1 triumph at then-No. 17 Providence on Thursday night.
Since returning to the BU lineup on Dec. 31, O'Brien has been sensational. The Hingham, Mass., native has scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points. That's tops on the squad during the Terriers' 12-1-1 run, which started before O'Brien returned to action.
BU will play for its 31st Beanpot title on Monday night when the No. 17 Terriers take on No. 13 Northeastern at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised locally on NESN, nationally on NHL Network and streamed in Canada at TSN.ca.
