Women’s Swimming and Diving Impresses In First Boston Winter Open Session

BOSTON – Beginning the Boston Winter Open on Friday evening, the Boston University women's swimming and diving team got off to a strong start with wins in two events at the FitRec Competition Pool.
Session I's events featured the 50- and 500-yard Freestyle as well as the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, the 200-yard Individual Medley, 3-meter diving, and a selection of time trials.
The Terriers had the top three times in the 50 Free, led by sophomore Blythe Brenner, who swam in a time of 23.96. She was the only swimmer to finish under 24 seconds. Freshman Alaina May and junior Elizabeth Williams captured second in 24.13 and third place in 24.17, respectively.
Brenner went on to beat that winning mark in the time trial event, posting a 23.78 to cap her evening.
In the 200-yard IM, senior Sezin Eligul won with a time of 2:04.64. She was one of two Terriers, including sophomore Ava Berzanski, to finish in the top seven.
Sophomore Keilah Eckhart took fourth place in the 500-yard Freestyle, touching the wall at 5:06.44.
The Terriers conclude the Boston Winter Open with two sessions at the FitRec Competition Pool on Saturday (Feb. 5) at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
