WEST POINT, N.Y. – Four Terriers scored in double figures, and the Boston University women's basketball program came back from a second-half, double-digit deficit to defeat Army West Point, 69-56, on Wednesday evening at Christl Arena.

Army (12-10, 6-6 PL) shot over 64 percent from the field in the first quarter and limited BU (14-9, 10-2 PL) to 20 percent shooting in the second quarter. However, the Terriers made 18 of their 26 shots in the second half, going a perfect 10-for-10 in the final frame and utilizing an extended 29-6 run in the two quarters to seal the win.

Junior Liz Shean led BU with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Sophomore Caitlin Weimar recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while junior Sydney Johnson also posted 16 points. Freshman Alex Giannaros added 12 points.

Sam McNaughton paced all scorers with 19 points for the Black Knights, while Sabria Hunter notched 14 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Army hit its first five shots of the game, four coming from McNaughton, to sport an 11-2 lead 3:15 into the game and coerce BU into a timeout.
The Black Knights led by as much as 10, 17-7, but the Terriers responded with their own 11-2 burst. Weimar completed a conventional three-point play after an offensive rebound, then Shean drilled a corner three and drawing a foul to secure a four-point play. Army led 19-18 after one.
In the second, Alisa Fallon made a layup and pull-up jumper, then Kate Murray hit a straightaway triple as part of a 9-0 Army run. Shean snapped the spurt with a right-wing three as the clock read 4:51.
Giannaros cut the Terrier deficit to six with a sideline three-pointer as the clock ticked past 30 seconds, but Hunter's putback layup with 11 seconds remaining put Army up 34-26 at halftime.
BU utilized a 9-0 run early in the third to get within 39-37, as junior Maggie Pina converted a midrange jumper and three-pointer from the left side, prompting a Black Knight timeout at the 6:30 mark.
Johnson found Weimar on the left block, and the sophomore banked a contested layup to give the Terriers their first lead, 42-41 with 4:24 left in the stanza.
The extended Terrier run capped at 17-4 over the final 8:22 of the third as BU entered the fourth quarter on top, 45-43.
Shean and Johnson each buried three-pointers as part of BU's 8-0 run to open the final frame, giving the Terriers their largest lead at 53-43 with 6:41 to play.
With 4:18 remaining, senior Chiara Tibbitt snagged a defensive rebound and handed off to Johnson, who sped through the paint for the fastbreak layup for a 59-45 advantage.
McNaughton's jump shot with 2:17 left cut BU's lead to 61-52, but Giannaros found Weimar underneath on the other end to replenish the double-digit edge.

GAME NOTES

For the game, BU shot 45.2 percent from the field, and 8-for-19 from three-point range.
Compared to .692 field goal percentage in the second half, Army shot just .333.
The Terriers had the edge in rebounds (41-32), second-chance points (19-15), and bench points (20-4).
BU also recorded eight blocks from five different Terriers.
All five of Weimar's double-doubles have come against Patriot League foes. Recording 11.9 points and 10.4 boards against league opponents, she has averaged 10.5 caroms in her last six efforts.
Shean earned her first game in double figures since Jan. 19 against Loyola Maryland. BU has won five consecutive games when she scores 10 or more points.
Johnson has scored 10-plus points in 18 of her 20 games this season.
In her last five games, Giannaros is averaging 13 points per contest.
The Terriers are 5-1 on the road in Patriot League play.
BU has won four straight against Army, and 12 of the last 13 games in the series.
