
Vlasic Signs Entry-Level Contract with Chicago Blackhawks

CHICAGO - Junior defenseman Alex Vlasic of the Boston University men's ice hockey team signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
A native of Wilmette, Illinois, Vlasic is scheduled to arrive in Chicago on Wednesday. and will join the Blackhawks Thursday. If he debuts with the Blackhawks in their next game on Saturday at Minnesota, Vlasic will become the 91st Terrier to appear in an National Hockey League game. He was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
One of the best defensive defensemen in the conference, Vlasic was named a Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star this season. He led BU with 51 blocked shots and also tallied one goal and a career-high seven assists for his second straight eight-point campaign. He twice tallied two assists this past season and also notched a goal and an assist in the Terriers' 5-1 win at Brown on Dec. 31 when he was one of just four true defensemen in the lineup. An assistant captain who has been a leader on and off the ice, Vlasic anchored a defense that allowed just 1.85 goals per game during the second semester when he was in the lineup.
Vlasic was a reliable member of the Terrier defensive corps over the past three seasons, as he missed just three games during his collegiate career. In 82 appearances, he notched four goals and 16 assists for 20 points while blocking 97 shots. As a junior last season, Vlasic totaled career highs in goals (3), assists (5) and points (8).
