Terrier Twelve - #6: Women’s Soccer Wins 14th Conference Regular Season Title

July 19, 2022

Returning for a 14th year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.

Coming in at No. 6 on this year's countdown is the women's soccer team, which captured its 14th conference regular season championship in program history in 2021.

After entering the campaign ranked second in the Patriot League Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, the Terriers posted an 11-6-3 record, going 6-1-2 against league opponents to earn their fourth Patriot League regular season title in nine seasons as a PL member.

After securing its first Patriot League win of the season on Sept, 18, a 2-1 triumph over Lafayette, BU went on to allow multiple goals in just one of their final 10 games against a league counterpart. In total, the Terriers allowed just seven goals in league competition.

By claiming the No. 1 seed in the 2021 Patriot League Tournament, BU hosted their semifinal matchup at Nickerson Field against No. 6 Army. Thanks to junior Marli Rajacich's goal in the 51st minute, the Terriers defeated the Black Knights 1-0 to advance to their sixth Patriot League championship game.

Head Coach Nancy Feldman concluded her legendary 27-year career at the BU helm by winning the Patriot League Coach of the Year award, her third PL honor and 12th total Coach of the Year award. The first and previously only head coach in the program's history, Feldman capped her tenure with 326 wins and a .643 winning percentage.

Senior Jenna Oldham, who was named the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year after switching her position to the back line. Oldham led the Terriers with 15 points, tying for the team lead each with four goals and seven assists.

BU led the Patriot League with eight total selections to the All-Patriot League teams. Sophomore Abigail McNulty joined Oldham on the All-Patriot League First Team after finishing with seven assists and 11 points.

Junior Julianna Stureman and sophomore Lily Matthews highlighted the Terrier presence on the Second Team. Stureman played over 1,350 minutes across all 20 games, while Matthews scored a goal and an assist in 20 appearances.

BU placed four Terriers on the Third Team in seniors Amy Thompson and Elle Conlin, as well as juniors Ashley Buck and Geovanna Pereira. Thompson and Pereira ranked third and fourth on the team with nine and eight points, respectively, while Conlin and Buck combined for 34 starts on the Terrier back line.
