Three Terriers Medal at IIHF Women’s World Championship

HERNING, Denmark – Boston University women's hockey alumnae Marie Philip-Poulin, Victoria Bach and Jesse Compher played in the gold-medal game at the IIHF Women's World Championship on Sunday. Philip-Poulin and Bach took the gold with Team Canada, posting a 2-1 win over Compher and Team USA.
 
Poulin and Bach won their second gold medal at a World Championship, the first coming in 2021 against the United States.
 
In her 10th appearance at the World Championship, Poulin notched an assist in the gold medal game to tally four assists and four goals over the course of the tournament. She scored two goals in the 9-0 win against Japan and two more goals in the 8-1 win against Switzerland.
 
Bach also contributed to the 9-0 win over Japan early in the tournament with a goal of her own. She added four assists to total five points in her second World Championship appearance.
 
Compher earned her third medal at a World Championship and second silver with the United States. She notched one goal and one assist in the U.S.' 10-1 win over Czechia in the first period of the game.
 
In addition to the three former Terriers at the World Championship, incoming transfer Andrea Braendli was the starting goaltender for Switzerland for the second year in a row. She totaled 150 saves in six games and had an overall save percentage of .898 to help the Swiss team to a fourth-place finish in Denmark.
