Anderson, Preece Collect Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Two Terriers were recipients of Patriot League Field Hockey weekly awards as sophomore Payton Anderson was named PL Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Amalia Preece was selected as the PL Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Boston University opened up conference play on Saturday with a 4-1 home triumph over Lehigh and Anderson and Preece both played key roles.
After Lehigh opened the scoring, Preece notched an equalizer for her first collegiate goal. The freshman forward redirected a ball from classmate Martu Coulo to the back of the net in the 21st minute. That was one of four shots on goal from Preece on the day.
Anderson was a standout on both ends of the field, scoring two goals, including the game-winner, while helping to limit the Mountain Hawks to just seven shots in the contest.
The New Zealand native converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead. Later in the 47th minute, Anderson scored used a drag flick off a corner to extend the lead to 3-1.
This is Anderson's third weekly PL honor of her career after being named Rookie of the Week twice last season.
