BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team will visit No. 7 Northeastern on Sunday in the first of four scheduled contests between the crosstown rivals over the next six weeks.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers are currently seventh in the Hockey East standings with 18 points.
  • Senior Julia Nearis ranks first on the Terriers in points (15) and goals (7) and junior Lacey Martin has a team-high nine assists to go along with four goals.
  • Nearis has at least one point in eight of the past 15 games with 12 points (6g, 6a) during the stretch.
  • Senior Nadia Mattivi (4g, 6a) and junior Catherine Foulem (3g, 6a) have added 10 and nine points, respectively.
  • Graduate student Andrea Brändli entered the weekend ranked  sixth in the nation in save percentage (.942) and 16th in goals-against average (1.92).

HISTORY WITH THE HUSKIES

  • BU is 32-26-9 all time against Northeastern, including an 11-13-3 record at Matthews Arena.
  • Ten of the last 13 matchups have been decided by two goals or fewer, including eight of those 13 resulting in either a 3-3 tie or a 2-1 scoreline.
  • The Terriers lost three of four contests to the Huskies last season and the teams most recently met in the 2022 Beanpot consolation game, a 3-0 NU win.
  • Then-freshman Callie Shanahan secured the most saves by a BU netminder in nearly six years when she turned aside 53 shots against Northeastern on Jan. 21.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Northeastern is ranked seventh in both national polls and enters Sunday on a six-game winning streak.
  • The Huskies are coming off a home sweep of Vermont last weekend to extend their lead over the Catamounts in the Hockey East standings to 10 points.
  • Four Huskies have 24 or more points and that quartet is led by graduate student Alina Mueller, who has 31 on 14 goals and 17 assists.
  • Classmates Chloe Aurard (11g, 17a) and Maureen Murphy (12g, 15a) have added 28 and 27 points, respectively, while senior Katy Knoll has 24 points on the strength of a team-best 15 goals.
  • Senior Gwyneth Philips ranks second in the nation in both save percentage (.956) and goals-against average (0.91).
