Cameron Wins Patriot League 1-Meter Title; Souza Places Third

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Sumi Cameron became Boston University's first conference diving champion in six years, posting a career-best 300.35 to capture the Patriot League 1-meter title on Thursday evening at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.
Sophomore Sophia Souza placed third in the event, posting a score of 287.20, as Cameron and Souza earned 20 and 16 points, respectively.
Freshman Haley Newman turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 2:01.80 to collect 15 points.
In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Blythe Brenner finished second in the B final with a time of 23.51 to add seven points to BU's total.
The 1-meter dive produced two other BU point-scorers in the B final as sophomore Marina Cataldo scored 256.95 and junior Karina Moy posted a score of 247.20.
BU's 400-yard medley relay of junior Lara Mitchell, junior Clarissa Hoyt, Newman and junior Sydney Sorbello turned in a school-record time of 3:41.25 but was disqualified due to an early takeoff.
The Terriers are currently fifth among the 10 teams with 125 points.
Day three of the PL Championships will start at 10 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 17).
