Terriers Look to Carry Momentum into Beanpot Opener vs. No. 5 Northeastern

BOSTON - Unbeaten in its past six contests, the Boston University women's ice hockey team takes on No. 5 Northeastern on Tuesday in the opening round of the 44th Beanpot.
The crosstown rivals will meet three times over the last 12 days of the regular season as they have a home-and-home series on Feb. 17-18.
TERRIER TIDBITS- The Terriers are 9-17-6 in Beanpot games since becoming a varsity program in 2005.
- BU has won two Beanpot championships - one in 2019 and another in 1981 as a club team.
- The Terriers have eight Beanpot semifinal wins with six of them coming as a varsity program.
- The Terriers are 3-0-3 in their past six games and most recently earned a 2-1 shootout win over No. 15 UConn on Friday.
- Graduate student Andrea Brandli has allowed just 10 goals over the six-game stretch.
- Senior Julia Nearis ranks first on the Terriers in points (19) and goals (10).
- Sophomore Christina Vote has eight points (1g, 7a) in the past six games and has 16 points (3g, 13a) while junior Lacey Martin (5g, 10a) and senior Nadia Mattivi (4g, 11a) have 15 points each.
- With BU trailing 2-0 late against No. 15 UConn on Friday, junior Catherine Foulem assisted on freshman Brooke Disher's goal and scored the game-tying goal before adding the shootout winner.
HISTORY WITH THE HUSKIES
- BU is 32-27-9 all time against Northeastern.
- Ten of the last 14 matchups have been decided by two goals or fewer, including eight them resulting in either a 3-3 tie or a 2-1 scoreline.
- The teams last met on Jan. 8 with the Huskies earning a 6-0 home victory.
- The Terriers lost three of four contests to the Huskies last season including a 3-0 win in the 2022 Beanpot consolation game.
- Then-freshman Callie Shanahan secured the most saves by a BU netminder in nearly six years when she turned aside 53 shots against Northeastern on Jan. 21.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern is ranked fifth in both national polls and enters Tuesday on a 13-game winning streak.
- The Huskies have clinched the Hockey East regular-season title and last played on Thursday, earning a 4-1 home win over UNH.
- Graduate students Alina Mueller (17-24--41), Chloé Aurard (16-24--40) and Maureen Murphy (15-24--39) have combined for 120 points and are the top three point-scorers in Hockey East.
- Senior Katy Knoll has added 28 points and is tied with Mueller for the team lead in goals in 17.
- Senior Gwyneth Philips ranks first in the nation in both save percentage (.960) and goals-against average (0.79).
