Terriers Fall to No. 5 Northeastern, 4-1, in Beanpot Semis

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston University women's ice hockey team put forth a strong effort against fifth-ranked Northeastern in the 44th Beanpot semifinals but fell short by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday evening at Conte Forum.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After saved shots by junior Clare O'Leary and senior Julia Nearis, junior Lacey Martin tipped the puck to Disher, who flung the puck past NU netminder Gwyneth Philips while falling to the ice in the left slot.
  • The Huskies wasted little time in regaining the lead as Murphy notched her second tallly of the contest at 3:53 on assists from linemates Aurard and Alina Mueller.
  • Brändli stopped 18 of the 19 shots she faced in the middle stanza to keep it a one-goal contest.
  • The Terriers put together some solid looks in the third and had their first and only power-play chance of the game in the period but were unable to draw even again.
  • Mueller made it 3-1 on an impressive shot from the right circle at 5:48 of the third.
  • Taze Thompson sealed the game with an empty-netter in the final second.
