Roncin Named Patriot League Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After batting .571 and helping lead the Boston University softball team to three wins, junior Kayla Roncin has earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Toms River, New Jersey, native went 8-of-14 with eight RBIs, five runs and three stolen bases to earn her second recognition of the season and fifth over the last two seasons.
Roncin started off 3-of-4 with four RBIs and two runs in a 13-0 (5) win over Yale. After collecting a single and run in the rematch, she hit a grand slam homer at Merrimack in a 9-0 (5) victory and added two more hits to complete the sweep, 2-0.
On the defensive front, she added seven putouts with an assist for a 100 fielding percentage.
Roncin currently ranks 12th nationally with 45 hits and 18th at a .459 batting average. She's also the fourth toughest to strike out.
BU will next host defending Big East regular season champion UConn on Wednesday (March 29) at 3 p.m.
