March 7, 2023 | Softball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After collecting three wins in her hometown, Boston University softball senior Allison Boaz has been named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Boaz posted a 0.72 ERA and totaled 10 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work to move up to tied-for-fifth all-time at BU with six career Pitcher of the Week honors from a conference. She also held opposing batters to a .200 average.
The San Diego native started the San Diego Classic by retiring nine of 10 batters in relief to help BU pull away from Montana, 9-1 (5). After allowing a run in 2.1 innings against Long Beach State, she shut out LBSU in the rematch for a 2-0 win by scattering five hits over seven innings. In her final appearance, Boaz limited San Diego State to two earned runs in a 5-3 victory to increase her win total to 35 games, two shy of cracking the top 10 at BU.
Boaz becomes the fifth different Terrier to earn a weekly award this season. Freshman Kasey Ricard was tabbed the top pitcher back on Feb. 21.
The Terriers will continue their California trip by visiting Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday (March 8) with the ESPN+ broadcast set for 9 p.m. ET.
