
Softball to Visit Colgate in Critical Patriot League Weekend Series

BOSTON – Currently one game ahead of Colgate for first place in the Patriot League standings, the Boston University softball team will visit the Raiders for a three-game weekend series with both Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single contest set for a 12 p.m. start time.
With three-game series against Army (road) and Holy Cross (home) remaining on the schedule, BU is 8-1 so far in the PL thanks to sweeps against Lafayette (road) and Bucknell (home) along with a 2-1 home performance against Lehigh. Five of the wins and the lone loss were decided in shutout fashion. The Raiders claimed a sweep at Lehigh by a combined four runs and lastly went 2-1 against both Holy Cross (road) and Army (home).

- Set to begin a seven-game road trip, BU is 6-4 in true road games with an active six-game win streak after starting off the season with losses at then-No. 16 South Carolina (2x), UCF and Charlotte. The Terriers rebounded with 9-8 (10) win at then-No. 20/23 Duke followed by victories over Yale (2x) and Lafayette (3x).
- BU ranks in the top 100 in 24 statistical categories, including third in shutouts (14), 17th in walks (170), 18th in triples (13) and 22nd in scoring (7.34 runs per game).
- Thanks to Wednesday's 8-7 victory over Providence that wrapped up a nine-game homestand, BU is now 6-2 in games decided by one or two runs.
- Senior Brooke Deppiesse leads BU batting .381 with 41 runs scored alongside 36 RBIs to rank second all-time at BU with 145 career RBIs, 10 shy of tying Alex Heinen ('19).
- Junior Kylie Doherty is second at .368, having broken BU records for single-season homers (16) and career homers (36). With her grand slam against Providence, she also owns both the school and PL record for RBIs in a season at 57 total.
- Junior Kyomi Apalit (.364) and senior Megan Coyle (.349) have combined for nine homers and 67 RBIs to help the offense with sophomore Camryn Lyons (.347), freshman Irys Kline (.342) and junior Livia Christopher (.324) also hitting over .300.
- Senior Kasey Ricard (21-5, 2 saves, 2.82 ERA) has collected 169 strikeouts over 158.2 innings of work and owns both the BU and PL records for career victories at 95.
- Both senior Haley Ganino (6-1, 3.52 ERA) and sophomore Danika Nell (3-4, 6.24 ERA) have combined for 10 starts along with 56 strikeouts over 88.2 innings.
- BU is batting .334 and holding teams to .249 with advantages in doubles (57-38), homers (37-24) and triples (13-7). Opponents though lead in stolen bases, 39-17.
- Coming off Wednesday's doubleheader split at Cornell (5-3, 8-9), the Raiders enter the series 2-1 at home with 9-1 (5) and 4-3 (10) victories over Army alongside a 10-8 (9) loss.
- Colgate is 4-1 so far against Massachusetts-based programs with 7-4 victory over Boston College and 3-2 (8) win against UMass back in February. The Raiders went 2-1 at Holy Cross with 14-0 (5) and 8-1 victories alongside a 5-4 loss.
- Other notable non-conference wins came against Marist (6-1), Stephen F. Austin (5-4) and North Dakota State (8-6)
- The Raiders rank 13th nationally with a Patriot League record 63 homers and 17th in homers per game (1.66) while also boasting a .537 slugging percentage that ranks 46th.
- Nora Megenity (.397) leads Colgate with 14 homers and 38 runs scored alongside 32 RBIs, while Lily Haluska (.353) has 12 homers and 44 RBIs. Marina Taveras (.336) is the third Raider with double-digit homers at 11 total.
- Kelcie McGraw (10-8, 4.20 ERA) owns one shutout and two saves with the help of 74 strikeouts over 96.2 innings of work. Maya Servedio (4-1, 4.51 ERA) owns 66 strikeouts in 68.1 innings, and Alexa Acker (6-9, 4.83 ERA) has posted 45 strikeouts in 78.1 innings.
- Overall, Colgate is batting .285 and holding opponents to .307 with 63-29 advantage in homers and slight 63-58 lead in doubles.
- BU leads the all-time series, 35-1, with a 21-0 home record and 14-1 road mark.
- Ten of the 35 wins have been decided by one or two runs, and Colgate earned its lone win in 2016 at home with a 1-0 decision.
- Last season, BU swept the series at home with two shutouts (11-0, 6-0) and a 7-5 victory that saw the Raiders try to rally with four runs in the seventh.
- In 2024 on the road, BU first pulled out a 4-2 (8) victory and followed up with two shutouts, 6-0 and 16-0 (5).
- BU will make the short trek over to Harvard on Tuesday (April 14) for a 4 p.m. start time.

- Last season at home, Doherty broke the scoreless deadlock with a two-run homer in the sixth, as the teams combined for just five hits in the pitchers' duel.
