GAME 1: BU - 5, Colgate - 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers struck first in the second with Lyons earning a lead-off walk, moving to second on Naivar's walk and scoring on junior Livia Christopher's RBI single through the right side.
- After Ricard earned three swinging strikeouts in the bottom half, Doherty started the third by singling to left, taking second on Lyons' infield single and reaching home on junior Kyomi Apalit's RBI double to right center.
- Colgate threatened by earning a lead-off walk and advancing the runner to second on a sac bunt, but Ricard ended the threat with a pair of fly outs.
- The Raiders earned a single and walk to put a runner at second again in the fourth before flying out to right and grounding out to third.
- BU loaded the bases for the second time in the fifth and managed to add two more runs to the scoreboard via RBI walks by freshmen Madolyn Coupal and Irys Kline.
- Colgate broke up the shutout bid during the bottom half with a one-out double to left and RBI single to right.
- After Ricard prevented further damage with a pair of infield pop ups, McHugh lined a solo shot to right to retake the four-run lead in the sixth.
- Deppiesse tripled to right in the seventh with one out but ended up stranded at third due to a strikeout and ground out to second.
- Trying to mount a rally, the Raiders struck out looking twice on 3-2 pitches but managed a walk and then shortly thereafter collected two runs on Nora Megenity's 15th homer of the season.
- Ricard sealed the 5-3 win with a fly out to center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers needed little time to grab the lead for good, as Deppiesse opened the contest doubling to left center and then scored on McHugh's RBI double down the left field line.
- BU blew open the game in the second with seven runs off six hits, including doubles from Apalit and Deppiesse that helped set up Coyle's two-run homer to center for the 8-0 lead.
- Doherty added a run in the fourth by singling up the middle, advancing to third on two ground outs to second and scoring on Naivar's two-out RBI single up the middle.
- During the bottom half, Colgate reached first on a fielding error and then struck out looking for the second time in the inning to strand a runner.
- Deppiesse delivered her third double of the contest to extend the lead to 10-0.
- Ricard sealed the no-hitter with two line outs and lastly a ground out to third.
- With her second no-hitter of the season, Ricard has surpassed Cassidi Hardy ('10) for the most in program history at six total.
- Deppiesse's three doubles in the second contest marked the most by a Terrier since Brittany Younan ('18) also had three in 2018. They are also tied for second among many other NCAA Division I players this season with Tennesse's Taelyn Holley the only one to earn four in a game.
- Coyle moved into a tie for second on the team with Deppiesse at six homers this season.
- Owner of the program's single-season record for homers, Doherty is currently tied for the PL record at 16 total, though Colgate's Megenity is now just one behind in her own hunt for the record.
- BU will conclude the series at Colgate on Sunday (April 12) with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
