Softball to Wrap Homestand with Providence in Wednesday Afternoon Doubleheader

BOSTON – Concluding the season-high nine-game homestand, the Boston University softball team will host Providence in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon with first pitch slated for 2:30 p.m.
The Terriers most recently swept Bucknell by a combined score of 39-0 in a three-game Patriot League series over the weekend to improve to 14-1 at home this season. Providence enters the matchup having won its last two games with home wins against Holy Cross (1-0) and Dayton (8-4).

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 9-0 against non-conference opponents at home this season with run-rule victories over Big East member UConn, Brown (2x), UMass Lowell and Stonehill.
- Senior Brooke Deppiesse is batting a team-high .382 with 41 runs scored alongside three triples, five doubles, six homers and 34 RBIs.
- Junior Kylie Doherty (.372) owns a program-record 15 homers, one shy of tying the PL record, with 53 RBIs that are two shy of tying the BU record and three away from tying the PL record.
- Senior Megan Coyle (.361) delivered a single-game school-record nine RBIs in a 15-0 (5) win over Bucknell this past Friday on her way to earning both PL Player of the Week and SI on Softball National Player of the Week honors.
- Owner of both a program and PL record 95 wins, senior Kasey Ricard (21-5, 2.84 ERA) has totaled 165 strikeouts in 153.0 innings of work against 41 walks, while senior Haley Ganino (6-1, 3.04 ERA) and sophomore Danika Nell (2-4, 6.11 ERA) have combined for 55 strikeouts in 87.1 innings.
- BU is batting .335 and holding opponents to .250 with an 103-66 advantage in extra-base hits. The Terriers have also nearly doubled teams in walks, 168-87, to earn a .438 on-base percentage.
- The Friars are 7-2 in Big East play with a sweep vs. DePaul and 2-1 records at both Creighton and DePaul.
- Cameron Dunn is batting a team-high .407 with eight doubles, 11 homers, 26 runs scored and 34 RBIs alongside 18 walks for a .524 on-base percentage.
- Both Emily Jonte (.387) and Sofia Peterson (.367) are also batting over .350 with a combined 40 runs scored. Julia Renny (.323) and Peterson have combined for 51 RBIs.
- Providence has had seven pitchers appeared in the circle with Alyssa Twomey (6-1, 3.41 ERA) owning a team-high 37 strikeouts in 41.0 innings of work. Both Addyson Frye (2-3, 5.95 ERA) and Alannah Hopkins (1-3, 6.65 ERA) have both pitched an identical 40.0 innings apiece while combining for 52 strikeouts.
- The Friars are batting .298 and holding teams to .304 with a 35-26 lead in homers and 39-34 advantage in homers. Opponents have nearly doubled Providence in stolen bases, 45-25.
- BU is 26-17-2 all-time against the Friars in a series that dates back to 1988 with a 14-4-1 home record.
- Last season on the road, Coyle delivered a pair of early RBI hits, but Providence rallied in the seventh with a two-RBI double and walk-off RBI single for a 3-2 win.
- In 2024, the Terriers went 2-0-1 at home with a 5-3 victory on April 9 and then unbeaten in a doubleheader on April 23 with an 8-0 (6) win and 1-1 contest that ended in a tie due to darkness.
- The other tie occurred during a road doubleheader on 2013 when BU first claimed a 2-0 win and then a 9-9 tie halted in the sixth by darkness.
- BU will start off a seven-game road trip by visiting Colgate for a PL series on April 11-12.
- Both Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single contest will feature a 12 p.m. start time.
