BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second week in a row, grad student
Shelly Yaloz of the Boston University women's tennis team was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This marks the third time Yaloz has been honored by the league this season.Â
Â
Yaloz went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles over the weekend against Navy and Lehigh. In doubles, she partnered with
Michelle Kleynerman in the No. 2 spot. The pair won both doubles matches in a 6-2 decision and clinched the doubles point for the Terriers on both occasions.Â
Â
In singles, the Queens, N.Y., native played at the top spot in the lineup. She played a competitive match against her Navy opponent and forced a super tiebreak on her way to the win. She secured a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13) victory to earn BU's seventh point in the match. A similar situation occurred against Lehigh as Yaloz forced a super tiebreak to win 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (4) and remain undefeated on the weekend.
Â
Yaloz is undefeated in league play at the No. 1 spot in singles. Her and Kleynerman are also on a five match winning streak.
