May 1, 2023 | Women's Tennis
BOSTON – After claiming its sixth Patriot League title in 10 years, the Boston University women's tennis team drew No. 14 national seed Miami in an NCAA first-round matchup set for Friday, May 5. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
Led by head coach Lesley Sheehan, the Terriers (19-4) won their 28th conference title by rolling past PL tournament host Army West Point, 5-0. BU is one of two conference champions at the Miami regional and will be making its 19th overall NCAA appearance.
Ranked 14th in the latest ITA national poll, Miami (15-7) will be hosting BU for the fourth time in NCAA tournament history following matchups in 2006, 2010 and 2014. The Hurricanes most recently fell to No. 10 Virginia in the ACC quarterfinals. The other matchup in the bracket will be between No. 35 FIU, the reigning Conference USA champion, and No. 19 Auburn. That match will take place earlier Friday at 10 a.m.
The two winners will face one another on Saturday, May 6, for a chance to advance to the regional championship. That match will be played at the higher seed's institution before the tournament moves to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
