Women’s Tennis Adds Nationally Recognized Recruiting Class

BOSTON – The Boston University women's tennis team is set to bring in another impressive recruiting class with Uma Bakaityte, Blanka DeMicheli and Ellie Gyuro who were ranked No. 8 in the mid-major poll released by TennisRecruiting.net. The class is the highest ranked in the Patriot League and is BU's highest rank since 2020.
The TRN mid-major rankings include colleges outside of the Power 5 (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC) and the Ivy League. Head coach Lesley Sheehan's recruiting classes have been recognized in the poll 14 times.
Uma Bakaityte
An international recruit from Kaunas, Lithuania, Bakaityte has seen success on the international stage. She ranked as high as No. 234 in the ITF juniors rankings and is a three-time member of the Lithuanian national team. Bakaityte has won seven ITF juniors doubles titles and made the ITF juniors singles finals three times.
Blanka DeMicheli
A native of Boca Raton, Fla., DeMicheli is a five-star recruit that is currently ranked 56th among the top 100 players in the class of 2023. She also ranks ninth in the state of Florida and 12th in the southeast. DeMicheli ranked as high as 27th in the 2023 TRN recruiting polls and boats a 13-7 singles record.
Ellie Gyuro
A five-star recruit, Gyuro is ranked 41st among the top 100 players in the class of 2023. She is the No. 10 recruit in both the state of California and the southwest region. The Irvine, Calif., native has 33 singles wins under her belt with 17 of those coming against four-star opponents.
