NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Boston University women's soccer program concluded non-conference play for the 2024 season with a 3-0 loss to Yale on Tuesday evening at Reese Stadium.

Both sides were scoreless for the first 68 minutes before the Bulldogs (7-3-0) broke the ice on Nana Yang's goal. Yale would then score twice in a three-minute span with under 11 minutes remaining to shut out the Terriers (2-7-3).

Freshman goalkeeper Bridget Carr made two saves. Senior Morgan Fagan tallied BU's lone shot on target.

Yang, Abigail Solomon, and Tina Teik supplied the goals for Yale, with Yang adding an assist. Kyla Holmes needed just one save to clinch the clean sheet.

HOW IT HAPPENED

BU secured the first corner kick in the eighth minute, with senior Hugrún Helgadóttir lifting a shot over the crossbar.
Less than a minute later, Porta fed Fagan down the right side for a 1-on-1 chance against Holmes, who denied Fagan's right-footed try near the right post.
Senior Allison Hanlon closed in on Phillips to block her shot, then the BU defense deflected multiple Yale attempts on a corner kick in the 19th minute.
Cahalan rang a shot off the left post after Carr initially punched away a corner kick insert in the 30th minute.
Carr made her first save in the final seconds of the first half to preserve the scoreless match, corralling Kirschner's header.
Out of the break, junior Helen Tyburczy's free kick into the box appeared to find junior Margy Porta for a header that went in, but the sideline judge ruled the play offside to keep the game scoreless.
Junior Giulianna Gianino crossed the ball from the left side to reach Porta, but the latter's shot was blocked in the 56th minute.
Finding a loose ball from a Yale cross in the 60th minute, Annika Bryant placed a rolling, right-footed shot on Carr, who made the save.
The Terriers sent away multiple dangerous Bulldog chances off corner kicks before Yang cleaned up a loose ball for. A left-footed strike in the 69th minute.
Solomon added another goal when her header off a corner beat Carr in the 80th minute.
Teik capped the scoring on a give-and-go with Addison Bray following Alex Chang's throw-in deep in BU's territory in the 83rd minute.

STATS

Yale sported a 13-3 advantage in shots, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
The Bulldogs generated nine corner kicks to the Terriers' three.
Neither side sustained a yellow card, and combined for 17 fouls.
Twenty Terriers saw time on the pitch, each playing at least 20 minutes.

NOTES

BU's unbeaten streak concludes at three games.
Tuesday marked just the first time since Aug. 31, 2023 that the Terriers lost by three goals.
It was just the third game decided by multiple goals on BU's schedule this year.
The all-time series between the Terriers and bulldogs is now level at 4-4-1, with Yale on a three-match unbeaten streak.
