AMESBURY, Mass. – Graduate student Tamara Giaquinto, senior Callie Shanahan and freshman Lola Reid claimed Hockey East Monthly Awards for October as the defender, goaltender and player of the month, respectively, the league announced Thursday.
 
Giaquinto garnered six points in October from three goals and three assists. All her goals and two of her assists came in Hockey East play as she sits second in league play in points. The graduate student leads Hockey East and is fifth in the NCAA in power play goals with three. She also blocked 13 shots which is the most of any Terrier this season. This is Giaquinto's first monthly award recognition.
 
Shanahan posted a 4-2-0, 3-1-0 HE record in October, featuring two shutouts in wins over No. 13 Northeastern and Maine to lead the league. Her goals against average of 1.06 leads Hockey East as she only has four goals against in league play. The senior owns 145 overall saves and had a season-high 40 saves at No. 2 Minnesota. Shanahan was named the Goaltender of the Week on Oct. 14 and claims her first monthly award.
 
Reid's six goals and five assists lead Hockey East in scoring with 11 points in October, seven of which came from Hockey East play. Her four game-winning goals is the most in the league and is first in the NCAA. The three-time Hockey East Rookie of the Week has six blocks and one unassisted goal this season and is 19th in the NCAA in goals per game. She leads BU in goals and points and is tied for first in assists.
