Shaunessy Tabbed Hockey East Defender of the Month

WEST AMESBURY, Mass. – Graduate student Julia Shaunessy of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Month, the league announced Wednesday.
Shaunessy tallied eight points off one goal and seven assists in November and leads Hockey East defenders in points in conference play. Defensively, she blocked four shots and was an integral part of the defense that held Merrimack and BC to less than ten shots on goal in two of BU's wins.
The graduate student logged at least one point in six out of seven games in the month and had two games with two assists. Her lone goal came against Boston College which forced the game into overtime as she picked up four points in the series.
Shaunessy and the Terriers will be back in action on Friday (Dec. 6) when they face Maine for the last game of the first half.
