February 22, 2024 | Women's Swimming & Diving
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Freshman Han Hoang finished runner-up in her first-ever Patriot League individual final, breaking her own school record in the 50-yard freestyle, before contributing to a record-breaking performance in the 400-yard medley relay on day two of the 2024 PL Championships on Thursday at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Hoang finished second in the 50 free morning prelims before doing the same in the evening final in a time of 22.51 to eclipse her school mark of 22.63 set back in November at the Terrier Invite.
Later in the evening, senior Lara Mitchell, senior Clarissa Hoyt, sophomore Haley Newman and Hoang teamed up for a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3.41.68, shaving over a second off the school record that was also attained at the Terrier Invite.
BU now sits in third place after two days of competition with 356 points with Navy (502) and Army West Point (448) holding the top two spots. Lehigh sits in fourth with 310 points.
Other highlights from Thursday were senior Ava Berzanski placing 14th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.77) and junior Sasha Ramey winning the C final in the same event with a time of 2:04.79.
Mitchell took 12th in the 50 free (23.45) and Newman was BU's top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 18th in a time of 4:54.65.
Seniors Sydney Sorbello (23.59) and Madison Kim (23.69) finished 2-3 in the C final of the 50 free.
