Boaz Named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week
March 19, 2024 | Softball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After collecting three wins and batting .600 for the No. 24 nationally-ranked Boston University softball team, graduate student Allison Boaz earned Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Thanks to Boaz's second award this spring, BU is now 5-for-5 in claiming the Pitcher of the Week honor with sophomore Kasey Ricard earning a pair (Feb. 20, March 12) and graduate student Lizzy Avery earning the recognition on Feb. 27.
A native of San Diego, California, Boaz started off by holding Coastal Carolina to one unearned run in 3.1 innings of relief for the 8-6 victory. Coming out of the bullpen, she later pitched 6.1 innings with three strikeouts against six hits and two runs allowed during a 5-4 win over 2023 NCAA Regional participant Minnesota. She also batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
On Saturday against another NCAA participant in Northwestern, Boaz earned a double and tallied four strikeouts against two runs allowed during five innings of work. In the 3-2 come-from-behind nine-inning win over Michigan State, she recorded an RBI double and run scored while also pitching the final eight innings with one strikeout against five hits.
Now an 11-time winner, Boaz and the Terriers will open conference play at Army West Point on Saturday (March 23). The doubleheader is set for a 12 p.m. start time.
