The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its 2024 season on Wednesday when the Terriers travel to North Carolina to face No. 5 Duke. Due to inclement weather in the area, opening faceoff is now scheduled for 12 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • This is the second time in less than a week that BU will face a top-five opponent.
  • BU bested then-No. 1 Army West Point, 14-9, on Friday night at Nickerson Field.
  • That was the Terriers' first time defeating a top-ranked foe and the second top-five win in program history.
  • Prior to Friday, BU previously defeated No. 2 Loyola, 18-11, in 2019.
  • Junior Will Barnes repeated as PL Goalkeeper of the Week after making 15 saves against Army West Point.
  • He enters the week ranked third in the nation with 14.88 saves per game and sixth in the country with a .583 save percentage.
  • Barnes has allowed 10 goals or fewer in each of the Terriers' last three wins while averaging 17 saves per game during this three-game win streak.
  • PL Defensive Player of the Week Roy Meyer led BU with seven ground balls and also forced a turnover in Friday's win.
  • After a four-point (1g, 3a) performance against Army on Friday, graduate student Louis Perfetto paces the Patriot League in goals per game (2.88), assists per game (2.75) and points per game (5.63).
  • He is also fifth nationally in points per game, 14th in the NCAA in assists per game and 20th in the country in goals per game.
  • Junior Brenden Kelly has scored 15 goals over the last four games, including a hat trick in each of the last two contests.
  • BU is the sixth-best riding team in the country, holding opponents to a .794 clearing percentage.

HISTORY AGAINST DUKE

  • BU is 0-5 against the Blue Devils, with the teams having met in each of the Terriers' first five seasons as a varsity program.
  • Duke won that last matchup, 13-9, in Durham in 2018.
  • The teams have met twice at Koskinen Stadium and twice at Nickerson Field, with the 2017 game being played at Bethpage High School in New York.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS

  • Duke bounced back from a 10-4 loss at then-No. 5 Syracuse on Wednesday by defeating then-No. 5 Denver, 11-7, in a neutral-site game in Maryland.
  • Senior Brennan O'Neill, the reigning Tewaaraton Award winner, leads Duke with 53 points on 33 goals and 20 assists.
  • Graduate student Dyson Williams (33g, 1a) is tied with O'Neill for the team lead in goals while Josh Zawada (21g, 31a), a grad transfer from Michigan, paces the Blue Devils with 31 assists and is second on the squad with 52 points.
  • Duke's first midfield of Benn Johnston, Max Sloat and Andrew McAdorey combined for four goals and three assists against Denver.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Jameison has started all 11 games for Duke.
  • He is second in the nation and first in the ACC in both goals-against average (7.93) and save percentage (.607).
