HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Shayla Brown fired off the first two shots of the game. Her first tally came on a point-blank from eight yards away that Haesche batted down before smothering the loose ball.
- In the 18th minute, senior Giulianna Gianino whipped a free kick near the left sideline right on goal, with Haesche settling under for the snag.
- Moments later, freshman Nina Tzouganatos collected a loose ball that Haesche slapped aside and turned on a shot atop the 18-yard box, sending the ball just over the woodwork.
- Holy Cross' most dangerous chance in the first half arrived on a corner kick in the 36th minute, where Caroline Bierfeldt's header directly in front of the right post was wide.
- Maguire broke the ice in the 52nd minute on a give-and-go with Porta on a throw-in by the right sideline. Maguire deked her defender and tucked a left-footed try into the upper-right corner over an outstretched Haesche.
- Gianino nearly put the Terriers ahead by two on chances in the 57th and 62nd minutes, but Haesche read both shots for saves.
- In the 72nd minute, Holy Cross cleared BU's first corner of the night and Sam Halligan raced down the field with only Morgan Weaver to beat before Carr in net. Weaver dispossessed the Crusader in the final third to halt the threat.
- In the 86th minute, Abigail Cushing tapped a shot that bounced off a sliding Carr and towards the net. Stickelman raced in to send the trickling ball away. The Terriers then fended off two Crusader corner kicks.
- BU sported a 13-4 edge in shots and 6-2 in shots on goal.
- Corner kicks favored Holy Cross, 4-1.
- Weaver was assessed the lone yellow card in the match.
- Seven Terriers played the full 90 minutes: Carr, Stickelman, Gianino, Tzouganatos, Weaver, senior Helene Tyburczy and sophomore Alli Powderly.
- Maguire scored her second goal of the season and first since her second-half tally at Maine on Aug. 24.
- Porta extended her points streak to four matches with six points in that span. She now has a personal-best three assists in 2025.
- Carr improves to 9-0-5 against Patriot League foes in the regular season during her Terrier tenure.
- BU's four-game winning streak is the largest of the season and the longest since 2022.
- At home, the Terriers have not allowed a goal in the last 373:26 of play. BU has blanked five of their six opponents at Nickerson Field in 2025.
- The Terriers improve to 14-3 all-time against Holy Cross while increasing BU's lead to 4-0 in this year's Turnpike Trophy series.
- BU welcomes American to Terrier Town for Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 18). Opening kick is slated for 1 p.m. with a preceding ceremony to honor the Terrier senior class.
