Terriers Win Sixth Straight in 4-0 Triumph Over Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Giulianna Gianino registered four points and was one of four different goal scorers as the Boston University women's soccer program picked up its sixth consecutive victory in a 4-0 win at Lehigh on Saturday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

BU (9-4-3, 6-1-1 PL) scored three times in the second half after gaining the lead over the Mountain Hawks (3-10-3, 1-6-1 PL) in the 10th minute. With the win, the Terriers secured a top-two seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and a bye in the quarterfinal round.

Gianino finished with a goal and two assists. Senior Mackenzie Stickelman potted her seventh goal of the year. Junior Samantha Aronson and sophomore Olivia Avellar tallied second-half scores. Goalkeeper Bridget Carr recorded five saves in her fifth consecutive clean sheet.

Aminah Baruwa and Tori Okorodudu led the Mountain Hawks with two shots. Maggie Ousouljoglou made three saves between the posts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • BU's back line boxed out multiple Mountain Hawk threats in the opening minutes thanks to plays from sophomore Alli Powderly and freshman Nina Tzouganatos inside the box.
  • Gianino broke the ice in the 10th minute when she dispossessed a Lehigh defender on the back line for a 1-on-1 opportunity against Ousouljoglou, beating her to the lower-left corner of the goal.
  • Carr made her first save of the afternoon in the 11th minute on a through pass, stepping up to deny Okorodudu.
  • After the Mountain Hawk defense stifled two Terrier inserts, Ousouljoglou lined up Powderly's shot from a corner kick in the 29th minute.
  • Carr made two close-range stops on Cyndea Labissiere and Baruwa in the 35th minute, the former on a throw-in from midfield.
  • BU had three total chances in the final 5:12 of the first half. Senior Helene Tyburczy intercepted a pass and lifted a ball to Gianino for another 1-on-1 chance that was saved, then Aronson's 12-yard shot was blocked on the right edge of the box.
  • In the 53rd minute, Gianino inserted a corner kick right to Stickelman and header tipped off Ousouljoglou's glove and into the net.
  • Just 1:48 later, Gianino collected a clear attempt from Lehigh and dished off to Avellar. The sophomore worked to her right atop the box and rocketed a right-footed blast into the lower-right corner.
  • In the 78th minute, Carr's attempted clear deflected off her own defender and into BU's box with an open net. Baruwa chased down the loose ball but fell on it, allowing the Terriers to catch up and clear the ball.
  • Freshman Georgia Prouty worked down the right sideline and gave off to Aronson in the 6-yard box. The latter beat Ousouljoglou to the back of the net in the 87th minute.
STATS
  • BU finished with a 20-8 advantage in shots, including 7-5 on target.
  • The Terriers also generated three corner kicks.
  • Prouty supplied the assist on Aronson's score.
  • Carr, Stickelman, Tyburczy, Powderly and senior Morgan Weaver played the full match.
NOTES
  • Gianino moved into a tie for fifth place in program history with Christen Dutchka '99 and Annalisa Rodovsky '00 with 71 career points, becoming the seventh Terrier to reach 25 career goals and 70 career points.
  • She also tied Stacy Schwartz '99 for the single season program record with her 11th assist in 2025.
  • Stickelman and Gianino are tied for the team lead and tied for fourth in the Patriot League with seven goals this year.
  • Avellar has scored in two straight games and four times in 2025.
  • Both of Aronson's goals were scored in road contests.
  • BU's scoreless streak extended to its last 476:24.
  • The Terriers improved to 9-1-4 all-time against Lehigh.
